Heart of Yoga
Our lineage – About Mark Whitwell and other gurus
ABOUT
Passed down from T. Krishnamacharya (1888-1989), and his son T.K.V. Desikachar (1938-2016), UG Krishnamurti (1918-2007), Mark Whitwell (born in 1949, New Zealand) brings forth the true form of traditional yoga. T. Krishnamacharya is often called the ‘father of modern yoga’, as he taught Iyengar (Iyengar Yoga), Pattabhi Jois (Ashtanga Yoga) as well as his own son T.K.V. Desikachar.
Mark’s yogic and spiritual learning at Ramana Maharishi ashram and from other gurus such as Muktananda came to a tangible, practical means after meeting Krishnamacharya, Desikachar and U.G in the 70s.

Mark teaches yoga NOT as an enterprise / brand nor a tool to seek an ideal state (which would imply the absence of inherent power), but to celebrate and participate in the beautiful nurturing flow of life that is already given, and he calls this Heart of Yoga.
The ancient wisdom teaches that you are not separate from the Source / Nature, that you are already loved and powerful (Non-dual Tantra & Hatha Yoga). When we practice yoga as direct participation in Life, as a science of love to unite two opposite forces, we relax into this simple fact that we are completely in harmony with whole aspects of reality.
Heart of Yoga sheds lights on how social conditioning made us think that our life’s worth somehow depends on what we achieve or possess. Through completely tailored practice of breath-body-nature love making a.k.a yoga, we let go off patterns that create a false idea of who we really are.
Heart of Yoga is here to serve you, to find YOUR OWN yoga.
